{"id":2439,"date":"2012-08-24T17:07:02","date_gmt":"2012-08-24T21:07:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/w4kaz.com\/qth\/?p=2439"},"modified":"2012-08-29T12:38:38","modified_gmt":"2012-08-29T16:38:38","slug":"upgrade-to-ubuntu-12-04-lts-precise-pangolin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/w4kaz.com\/qth\/?p=2439","title":{"rendered":"Upgraded to Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>My testing sandbox server is running on an ancient Dell Optiplex 280 minitower, which has a P4 processor and 2gb of ram. \u00c2\u00a0Its been chugging along placidly on Ubuntu 10.04LTS. \u00c2\u00a0The 12.04LTS version has been popping up for a bit, and it seemed like it was being reported as a very solid release.<\/p>\n<p>The install running in my VirtualBox partition went smoothly enough, but that was only a leap from 11.x to 12.04. \u00c2\u00a0Upgrading from 10.04 is a couple of levels to jump, so the possibility for problems increases.<\/p>\n<p>So with some amount of\u00c2\u00a0trepidation\u00c2\u00a0I decided to run the upgrade process on the 10.04 sandbox. If the upgrade should barf completely, its not a tremendous loss. \u00c2\u00a0If it works, the 12.04LTS version is supposed to be good through 2017(if I recall the upgrade notes correctly).<\/p>\n<p>The upgrade seems to have been completely successful, with zero impact on the test bed. \u00c2\u00a0Sweeeeeet&#8230;..
