But I found very few really comprehensive summaries of some of the &#8220;must haves&#8221; for ARRL Field Day.  The actual nuts-n-bolts of setting up a functional station and not croaking ones-self over the course of the event.<\/p>\n<p>Everybody sees it through their own frames of reference, but some things are fundamental.  It all boils down to &#8220;Who brought the XYZ-thingy?&#8221;.  (Often nobody&#8230;.!)<\/p>\n<p>So with just a few days to go, here&#8217;s a timely roundup &#8211; just so I can find them all again next time I want to pass the info on to &#8220;new blood&#8221;.  A selection of readings on &#8216;all things field day&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"WVARA FD summary\" href=\"http:\/\/www.wvara.org\/fd\/fdbch.html\">West Valley Amateur Radio Club FD summary<\/a>.  Their summary is specific to their club, but a good basic synopsis nonetheless.<\/p>\n<p>Another <a title=\"N1FD - Nashua Area Radio Club FD primer\" href=\"http:\/\/www.qsl.net\/ta1dx\/afet\/fieldnedir.htm\">good club primer is by N1FD<\/a>.  It also includes a list of section abbreviations and a cheat sheet for CT commands.  <a title=\"CT by K1EA - CT homepage\" href=\"http:\/\/www.k1ea.com\/\">CT is STILL<\/a> the least common denominator, because folks don&#8217;t normally haul the BEST PC&#8217;s out to log in the field, CT is still free, and it works well enough.  Moan all you want &#8211; there&#8217;s no really good reason to change.<\/p>\n<p>One of the local clubs, <a title=\"RARS Homepage\" href=\"http:\/\/www.rars.org\/\">The Raleigh Amateur Radio Society<\/a>, has a <a title=\"RARS 2004 Band Captain guide\" href=\"http:\/\/www.rars.org\/fieldday_2004\/captains.html\">guide for their band captains<\/a>.  This is pretty much an all inclusive document speaking to the needs of a single station.<\/p>\n<p>How about <a title=\"ARRL FD rules\" href=\"http:\/\/www.arrl.org\/contests\/rules\/2008\/fd.html\">the actual ARRL FD rules<\/a>?<\/p>\n<p>Just in case you are &#8220;fuzzy&#8221; or maybe caught in a gray area\/twilight zone, some compliance advice &#8211;  <a title=\"FD \" href=\"http:\/\/www.johnhuggins.com\/gpl_projects\/field_day_organizer\/fielddayfaq.html\">Field Day Urban Legends, Myths and FAQs<\/a><\/p>\n<p>How about some Field Day Antennas?  Trust the US Marines Corps? &#8211;&gt;  <a title=\"USMC Field Antenna Handbook\" href=\"http:\/\/www.scribd.com\/doc\/299766\/USMC-Field-Antenna-Handbook?query2=%22field%20day%20antenna%22\">USMC Field Antenna Manual<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Looking for a site you can barge in on uninvited?
