{"id":1489,"date":"2010-05-09T07:04:45","date_gmt":"2010-05-09T11:04:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/w4kaz.com\/qth\/?p=1489"},"modified":"2010-12-22T09:20:34","modified_gmt":"2010-12-22T13:20:34","slug":"linux-tinkering","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/w4kaz.com\/qth\/?p=1489","title":{"rendered":"Linux Tinkering"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The latest version of Ubuntu(v10.4) came up as an option in the updates.\u00c2\u00a0 Went ahead and let it install and the upgrade was very smooth.\u00c2\u00a0 One moment of head scratching due to a query window regarding options for the upgrade to the &#8220;Grub&#8221; boot loader, but everything seems to have worked.\u00c2\u00a0 The transition was mostly seamless.<\/p>\n<p>The upgrade process did not seem to make any changes to the LAMPP install, which was a good thing.\u00c2\u00a0 Shoulda backed up the config files in there, but didn&#8217;t &#8211; so its good that the install went so smoothly.<\/p>\n<p>Been tinkering with bash scripting, which for the most part is easy to pick up. I&#8217;m still a Linux mega-noob, but I can see why programmers like it.\u00c2\u00a0 I wish Linux had been at this level 12 years ago.\u00c2\u00a0 The folk working on the Ubuntu distro have done a lot of good things to improve the ease of use and ease of install issues &#8211; a commendable acheivement.
