I have seldom heard more lids congregated together at one time. It made the antics found during a contest on 80m SSB seem tame.<\/p>\n
I sure lacked motivation for operating in this contest. In fact, it was so bad, that I spent more time trying to decide how to tidy up the shack than operating. When I was actively using the radio, I spent much more time listening around than trying to make QSO’s. So rather than force it, I just didn’t. The tuner-uppers, never-listeners, and drop-my-call-five-timers just made the decision an order of magnitude easier.<\/p>\n
Listening to the pileup RW2F was running was interesting. There was at least once I heard him work three stations before this one bozo had finished sending his call for the tenth time. “w1oafw1oafw1oafw1oafw1oaf….w1oaf”, ad infinitum. (NOT the real call \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n
I never did hear RW2F work da ‘oaf. Maybe da ‘oaf was just helping RW2F keep the pileup down on this side.<\/p>\n
I also heard a lot of guys start CQ’ing right on top of a juicy DX. No “QRL?”, no “?”, just “CQ test W1oaf”.<\/p>\n
None of the above is too unusual. I just was not in the spirit of the contest, and didn’t feel like S&P’ing through the mess. I had intended to look for a run frequency in the higher portion of the band, but bailed on that plan. On Friday I figured I was just tired, and Saturday would be better. Nope-didn’t wanna listen to it Saturday night either. I was just not in the right frame of mind.<\/p>\n
